About the event
From soft drink stickers to cake labels, calendars to catalogues, Anderson’s City Printing Works has left its mark on Central Queensland for more than 123 years.
Founded by Andrew Canning (Lofty) Anderson, the son of migrant Scottish linen weavers, the business began with a simple but powerful idea, to be a “weaver of words.” Across four generations, the Anderson family built a legacy of worthy service, innovation and deep community connection.
Through the Great Depression, changing local and national economies, and rapid technological shifts, Andersons didn’t just survive, they led the way as regional pioneers in the printing industry.
This exhibition celebrates more than a family business. It showcases an extraordinary archive of everyday life in Rockhampton and surrounds, printed materials that capture generations of local stories, milestones and memories.
Join us for an afternoon celebrating craftsmanship, resilience and the printed history of Central Queensland.
