Benevolent Living has today announced the retirement of Chief Executive Officer Alison Moss, marking the conclusion of more than 25 years of dedicated service to the organisation, including over two decades as CEO.
Since her appointment as Chief Executive Officer in 2003, Alison has provided sustained and purposeful leadership through one of the most significant periods of transformation in the aged care sector. Her tenure has been guided by a clear commitment to person-centred care, organisational integrity and long-term sustainability.
Under Alison’s leadership, Benevolent Living transitioned from a traditional model of care to a contemporary, person-centred approach grounded in dignity, relationships and quality of life. During this time, the organisation strengthened its reputation as a trusted aged care provider in Central Queensland, while successfully responding to rising community expectations, regulatory reform and changing sector demands.
A defining legacy of Alison’s leadership is the long-term transformation of the Benevolent Living campus. Through a deliberate and carefully staged approach to redevelopment, she oversaw the renewal of older-style accommodation into a modern, thoughtfully designed environment that reflects contemporary standards of care and living. These developments have created welcoming, connected spaces that place resident wellbeing and dignity at their centre, and will continue to serve the community for decades to come.
Equally significant has been Alison’s commitment to people and culture. She consistently championed professionalism, accountability and compassionate care, investing in workforce capability and fostering an organisational culture focused on safety, quality and respect. This cultural foundation remains one of her most enduring contributions to Benevolent Living.
The Board of Benevolent Living has acknowledged Alison’s role in positioning the organisation strongly for the future, with a clear strategic direction, a capable leadership team and a continued focus on delivering high-quality services in an increasingly complex operating environment.
The Board is working closely with Alison to support a structured and orderly transition, with recruitment for her successor now underway.
On behalf of the Board, sincere thanks are extended to Alison for her leadership, integrity and longstanding commitment to Benevolent Living and the community it serves. We wish her every success and fulfilment in the next chapter of her life and look forward to appropriately celebrating her remarkable contribution in the coming months.
